Redefining Norms – Are We Ready? Industry Experts Share Their Thoughts

The South Asian Digital Travel Conversation is a digital conversation organized by the South Asian Travel Awards to discuss in-depth, to create awareness and to voice the challenges that are being faced in the Travel Trade & Hospitality Industry of the South Asian region.


The conversation has been purposefully designed as a series, spread across multiple episodes of 45 minutes each, with special guests from the South Asian region’s Travel Trade & Hospitality Industry. Each episode will highlight a specific topic, and industry professionals will be sharing their voice with regional factual data.


The conversation will be guided by a moderator who will ask questions based on the topic of the day, and the guests will share their views, experiences, opinions and hindrances. The show will be viewed live on Facebook (https://web.facebook.com/SATAawards) every Saturday at 1130 GMT and a rerun will be telecasted on Raajje Television at 1830 GMT. Different episodes will be presented with diverse industry stakeholders and moderators.


Episode Seven will be hosted by the VP of South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) Mr Suraj Khan and News Director – International Affairs of Raajje TV, Aishath Shaany. The topic of episode five is; Opening to a New Normal

Jose Joseph – CEO & Managing Director, Unimondo Travel & Leisure Private Limited

Jose Joseph, a hotelier by profession with over 24 years’ experience in tourism industry is an expert in Hotel Management, Consultant and hospitality sales and marketing. He started Holiday Kerala in the year 1997 and is an expert in kerala holidays like many other destinations where he is equally experienced. Mr. Jose Joseph was also the chairman of Jury for South Asia Travel Award for year 2016-17 & year 2017-18 representing India.


Ramesh Vidanarachchi - Head of Sales, Ramada by Wyndham Colombo

Ramesh has over 10 years in the hospitality industry and is experienced in multiple aspects of this trade. He is now heading the Sales Division of Ramada by Wyndham Colombo. He is Specialized in a variety of subjects ranging from Human Resources to Sales and Revenue Management.



Murad Hassan – Director of Business Development, Villa Hotels & Resorts

Murad is a successful professional with over 17 years’ experience in tourism marketing in Maldives. His specialties include hotel/resort contracting, destination marketing and promotion, online sales and marketing strategy, and business development for online travel marketing consultancy.  He was most recently working as the Director for market management at Agoda for Malaysia and Maldives. 


Md Taslim Amin Shovon-  CEO, Bizcon Holidays

Taslim Amin Shovon is the CEO of Tour Operator Bizcon Holidays and former Director of Tour Operators Association (TOAB). With a Master’s in Business Administration from the AUB is also a member of the Tourism Standing Committee at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
