Sri Lanka Tourism has announced that the 9th edition of the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) will take place on 19th and 20th September 2025 at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on 22nd August 2025 at Sri Lanka Tourism, with several key industry leaders in attendance.
Among the dignitaries present were:
Mr. Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB)
Mr. Nalin Jayasundera, President of the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO)
Ms. Amal Goonetilleke, CEO of The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL)
Mr. Ismail Hameed, President of SATA
Mr. Suraj Khan, SATA Vice President, India
Mr. Sampath Nishshanka, Managing Director of Sri Lanka Tourism
Mr. Virosh Perera, Director of Marketing for Cinnamon Grand Colombo
During the briefing, Mr. Hewawasam highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and expressed his vision for a collaborative approach among South Asia’s travel organizations and tourism bodies.
Sri Lanka Tourism is the Destination Partner for SATA 2025, while Cinnamon Grand Colombo will serve as the Official Host for the prestigious event, which celebrates excellence in the South Asian travel and hospitality industry.
