SATA 2025 Begins In Sri Lanka, Colombo With SATA Connect & Conversations

The ninth edition of South Asian Travel Awards commenced with its pre-event networking component at Cinnamon Grand Colombo. The gathering brought together hospitality executives, airline representatives, and travel sector professionals for an exhibition-style showcase of new offerings.

Vice President Suraj Khan opened proceedings, followed by remarks from Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam. The event recognized hospitality partners who accommodated jury members during the evaluation phase.

Two panel discussions explored contemporary industry topics. The first examined hospitality's evolution through experiences, technology integration, and revenue approaches, featuring hoteliers and association leaders from across South Asia. The second panel examined regional tourism cooperation among decision-makers representing Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Kerala tourism organizations.

The awards' main gala ceremony is scheduled for September 20th at the same Colombo venue, celebrating South Asia's tourism and hospitality achievements.
